The Qur'an Sura XC — THE SOIL
1I NEED not to swear by this SOIL,
2This soil on which thou dost dwell,
3Or by sire and offspring!
4Surely in trouble have we created man.
5What! thinketh he that no one hath power over him?
6"I have wasted," saith he, "enormous riches!"
7What! thinketh he that no one regardeth him?
8What! have we not made him eyes,
9And tongue, and lips,
10And guided him to the two highways?
11Yet he attempted not the steep.
12And who shall teach thee what the steep is?
13It is to ransom the captive,
14Or to feed in the day of famine,
15The orphan who is near of kin, or the poor that lieth in the dust;
16Beside this, to be of those who believe, and enjoin stedfastness on each other, and enjoin compassion on each other.
17These shall be the people of the right hand:
18While they who disbelieve our signs,
19Shall be the people of the left.
20Around them the fire shall close.
