The Qur'an Sura LXXXVIII — THE OVERSHADOWING
1Hath the tidings of the day that shall OVERSHADOW, reached thee?
2Downcast on that day shall be the countenances of some,
3Travailing and worn,
4Burnt at the scorching fire,
5Made to drink from a fountain fiercely boiling.
6No food shall they have but the fruit of Darih,
7Which shall not fatten, nor appease their hunger.
8Joyous too, on that day, the countenances of others,
9Well pleased with their labours past,
10In a lofty garden:
11No vain discourse shalt thou hear therein:
12Therein shall be a gushing fountain,
13Therein shall be raised couches,
14And goblets ready placed,
15And cushions laid in order,
16And carpets spread forth.
17Can they not look up to the clouds, how they are created;
18And to the heaven how it is upraised;
19And to the mountains how they are rooted;
20And to the earth how it is outspread?
21Warn thou then; for thou art a warner only:
22Thou hast no authority over them:
23But whoever shall turn back and disbelieve,
24God shall punish him with the greater punishment.
25Verily to Us shall they return;
26Then shall it be Our's to reckon with them.
