The Qur'an Sura LXXV — THE RESURRECTION
1It needeth not that I swear by the day of the RESURRECTION,
2Or that I swear by the self-accusing soul.
3Thinketh man that we shall not re-unite his bones?
4Aye! his very finger tips are we able evenly to replace.
5But man chooseth to deny what is before him:
6He asketh, "When this day of Resurrection?"
7But when the eye shall be dazzled,
8And when the moon shall be darkened,
9And the sun and the moon shall be together,
10On that day man shall cry, "Where is there a place to flee to?"
11But in vain–there is no refuge–
12With thy Lord on that day shall be the sole asylum.
13On that day shall man be told of all that he hath done first and last;
14Yea, a man shall be the eye witness against himself:
15And even if he put forth his plea. . . .
16(Move not thy tongue in haste to follow and master this revelation:
17For we will see to the collecting and the recital of it;
18But when we have recited it, then follow thou the recital,
19And, verily, afterwards it shall be ours to make it clear to thee.)
20Aye, but ye love the transitory,
21And ye neglect the life to come.
22On that day shall faces beam with light,
23Outlooking towards their Lord;
24And faces on that day shall be dismal,
25As if they thought that some great calamity would befal them.
26Aye, when the soul shall come up into the throat,
27And there shall be a cry, "Who hath a charm that can restore him?"
28And the man feeleth that the time of his departure is come,
29And when one leg shall be laid over the other,
30To thy Lord on that day shall he be driven on;
31For he believed not, and he did not pray,
32But he called the truth a lie and turned his back,
33Then, walking with haughty men, rejoined his people.
34That Hour is nearer to thee and nearer,
35It is ever nearer to thee and nearer still.
36Thinketh man that he shall be left supreme?
37Was he not a mere embryo?
38Then he became thick blood of which God formed him and fashioned him;
39And made him twain, male and female.
40Is not He powerful enough to quicken the dead?
