The Apocrypha & how it connects
These fifteen books sit between the Old and New Testaments in history and, for many churches, in the Bible itself. The Catholic canon includes Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, 1–2 Maccabees and the Greek additions to Esther and Daniel. Orthodox canons add more (1 Esdras, 3 Maccabees, Psalm 151, the Prayer of Manasseh). Protestant Bibles print them, if at all, in a separate section — the word "apocrypha" means "hidden away". They were part of the Septuagint, the Greek Old Testament the New Testament writers usually quoted.
What you'll notice here
The apocryphal pages are deliberately thinner than the canonical ones. They have the text (World English Bible) and nothing else automatic: no openbible cross-references (that dataset is canon-only), no Hebrew/Greek interlinear (the STEPBible tagging covers the canonical text), and no commentary (Matthew Henry and JFB didn't write on them). That absence is itself informative — it shows how the study apparatus of the church grew up around one set of books.
Hand-noted connections
Where the New Testament clearly echoes one of these books, it's noted in the ✦ panel on both verses — flagged as an allusion, parallel, or retelling, never given the authority of a voted cross-reference. The clearest single case isn't even in this list: Jude 14–15 quotes 1 Enoch 1:9 by name — a book in no canon but the Ethiopian — and that note appears on Jude 1:14.
